If you are looking for a internship job, you may wonder how to create a CV that catches HR's attention at first glance. Simply follow these three steps.

Step 1 Make Good Personal Profile

For many, if this is your first job, things might be challenging. One way to stand out is by having a strong personal profile. Look for transferable skills listed in the job description—if you believe you’ve gained those through your studies, be sure to include them in your profile. Make sure the profile section is placed at the top of your CV.

Step 2 Your Extracurricular Activities

You may not have work experience, but have you ever been part of a school society or charity, such as AIESEC. Include what you achieved during these activities—for example, leading a society to win a prize or spending two months teaching English in Thailand, through which you developed teamwork and communication skills.

Step 3 Your GPA Matters

Include your course and GPA on your CV. It’s not surprising to say that GPA matters when applying for internship positions. Your average score is a persuasive indicator that you have the capability to learn effectively. If you have taken relevant courses, it is highly recommended to include them—along with your GPA, especially if it is above 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. If you have written an essay or report on a related project, include that as well. This is a great way to show the HR team that, even without work experience, you have already taken initiative. It demonstrates that you are highly trainable and have the potential to bring a lot to the table.

Ending

Finding an internship isn’t that hard as long as you have the right attitude and a strong CV. If you can’t find a suitable position right away, give yourself a bit more time. Even if nothing promising comes up in the short term, you can continue improving yourself by taking relevant online course and participating in charity projects. Always be prepared for opportunities, even if they aren’t available at the moment.
